I began my journey in CFJ in 2011 when Sabrina and Nick approached me to serve at English Mass. I was probably their fourth or fifth recruit. They asked me if I was interested in serving God by breathing in a new dynamic to the Catholic Church. What we wished to do was make Mass fun for everyone attending!
We only had a total of seven people serving in our early beginnings, and we knew very little about the Catholic Liturgy. Truthfully, none of us were very “church-y”, so running the English Mass that is now central to our operation was once something that we learned from zero, because we were committed to our mission: “For where two or three are gathered in my name, there I am among them” Matthew 18:20. We believed that God would send forth the Holy Spirit for us to do His work and bring many people to worship. Our hearts all longed to feel the presence of God.
That being said, I encourage every person of faith to try or to start serving if you haven’t already. Serving has made me able to practice and therefore experience my faith. My prayer life has improved life by a lot! Don’t let your busy world hinder you from developing a new focus on God. Whenever I got too busy with my work and felt it was impossible to fulfill my ministry, I asked God for strength. In that way, I rely not on my own efforts but for our Big God to lift our burdens. It works for me. So, yes, I am truly blessed to have been a part of CFJ, a place where my faith grows in the community of Christ. I have made so many friends from different walks of life, and we are all here to share God’s love and God’s Grace. Come and be blessed!
